Dan Fryda, President of Spa Technologies International, has been a leader in the skin care industry for over 30 years. His background in thalassotherapy, aromatherapy, Chinese healing arts, and phyto-chemistry has led Dan to pioneer advanced treatments and products that meet the challenges of healthy aging for the spa and medical environment.

His research and development lab and production facility has created award-winning formulas for anti-aging skin care using organic marine and botanical sources. These marine actives are naturally balanced in their seawater environment—making them entirely bio-available and bio-compatible to drive “the actives” deeper into the skin.

A native of France, Dan was inspired by a quote from Jean Cocteau who said:  “Man turns to the ocean to discover his past; what he will discover is his future.”  He came upon this quote while studying the work of Rene Quinton who is the author of Seawater:  Organic Matrix.  In this monumental work, Quinton demonstrated how pure seawater and human blood plasma, lymph and interstitial fluids are nearly chemically identical.  This work supported the belief that life originated in the ocean and that we are all carrying our ocean heritage within our bodies in what Dan calls our ocean within—which is the title of his book on the subject.

Are there secrets to longevity, youthfulness and beauty hidden in the vast ocean surrounding us?  This is has been the focus of his research over the past two decades.  The answers lie not only in seawater, but mainly in the marine plants that get their nourishment directly from the sea—algae.  This covers a broad range of sea plants from the microscopic plankton meadows across the ocean to the giant kelp that can grow to 180 feet in length.  Within these miracle plants are some of the most powerful antioxidants such as Astaxanthin, polyphenols and alpha/beta carotenes; DNA repairing enzymes, skin brightening actives and anti-inflammatory retinols; and lastly vital elements such as copper, zinc, magnesium and iodine.

Dan continues to research and develop new products that address the current needs of every consumer.

Dan is a lecturer and educator who travels around the country to share his research, and is a frequent contributing writer in the beauty and health press.
